Skin Treatments in Oakham: Profhilo, Skin Boosters and Polynucleotides

Injectable skin treatments at West Road Dental Practice in Oakham with Dr Reem Khalifa: Profhilo, skin boosters and polynucleotides to improve skin quality, hydration and elasticity.

Not every change you want is about lines or volume. Sometimes the skin itself has lost its glow: it looks dull, dry or crepey, and no cream is going to fix that from the outside. Injectable skin treatments work from underneath, and at West Road they are carried out by Dr Reem Khalifa, a GDC-registered dentist (295068) with experience in facial aesthetics since 2011.

Profhilo

Profhilo is an injectable made of hyaluronic acid, the substance your skin makes naturally to hold water. Unlike a dermal filler it is not placed to add shape; it spreads under the skin and stimulates it to produce collagen and elastin, so over a few weeks the skin becomes firmer, better hydrated and smoother. It is usually given as two sessions about a month apart, and it improves skin quality, hydration and elasticity.

Skin boosters

Skin boosters are small amounts of a soft hyaluronic acid gel placed just beneath the surface across an area, such as the cheeks or the neck, to hydrate the skin from within and restore smoothness. They suit dry, tired or sun-damaged skin and skin that has begun to show fine surface lines.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are a newer treatment that uses purified DNA fragments to encourage the skin to repair itself: improving elasticity, calming redness and improving texture. They can be used on the face, around the eyes for dark circles and crepey skin, and on the scalp to support hair. They are usually given as a course of two or three sessions.

Collagen stimulation

A dilute collagen-stimulating injectable (Radiesse) spread across an area, sometimes called a collagen wash, prompts the skin to build its own collagen over the following months, for firmer skin and a gradual, natural-looking result.
